St John Ambulance works at the heart of communities, supporting and enabling them to access and receive physical and mental health first aid. We do this through developing and providing effective community response and outreach services (e.g. Ambulance response & Nighttime Economy) and using our longstanding expertise to empower people with vital clinical skills and the confidence to use them (e.g. our Volunteers and Community Advocates, NHS Cadets and Young Responders programmes). There is also a buoyant social enterprise network which delivers first aid training and supplies medical consumables to businesses and consumers.

Job Summary
As our Multimedia Production Officer, you will create high-quality graphic designs, videos, and other multimedia content that bring St John Ambulance’s impact to life and reflect our organisational goals. Combining creativity with technical expertise, you will work closely with colleagues and stakeholders to deliver engaging and consistent content. 

You will support the Content Manager in maintaining and updating content tools, ensuring brand templates, graphics, videos, and other assets are accessible and effectively used by staff and volunteers. You will also handle new content requests, contribute to delivering the annual content plan, and help embed our brand guidelines across the organisation. 


About You

You should have proven experience as a multimedia designer, with confidence using both phone and professional camera equipment. Strong skills in editing across Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools are essential, alongside experience in creating, developing, and editing impactful content such as stories, graphics, and videos. You will have a track record of leading content briefs, coordinating their development, and working effectively with external agencies and freelancers to deliver high-quality outputs on time and within budget.

The role also requires experience in producing, delivering, and managing multimedia content designed to educate, inspire, and engage key audiences, supporting both fundraising and charitable objectives. The successful candidate will be passionate about content creation, fundraising, and charitable impact, with the ability to write compelling copy, briefs, proofs, and guidelines. Excellent proofreading skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex information into plain English while adhering to a style guide are essential. 
 

About the Role

  • Graphic design: produce inspiring posters, banners, brochures, as well as graphics for website, newsletters, CRM, campaigns and social media that showcase St John’s impact.
  • Video and photo production: plan, shoot and edit video and photo content that showcases real-life stories, celebrity and influencer supporters, our volunteers in action, first aid training, our impact on young people and teaching communities first aid for free.
  • Illustrations: mock up and create new illustrations that showcase first aid guidance and impact infographics that can be used on CRM, our website and social media.
  • Content collaboration: work closely with other teams, including fundraising, volunteering, enterprise, and youth, as well as external agencies and freelancers, to ensure the brand content plan supports teams’ objectives.
  • Brand conistency: ensure all multimedia content communicates our brand purpose and key messages. Assist in rolling out our new brand refresh, visual guidelines, TOV and house style.
  • Creative input: contribute to brainstorming sessions for campaigns and provide creative solutions to reach new audiences and enhance our impact.
  • Insight and impact: showcase how the content plan and multimedia are improving brand awareness, understanding about our charity, volunteer sign-ups, fundraising and the number of people we teach first aid for free.
  • Digital Asset management: organise and co-ordinate a library of multimedia assets, ensuring proven consent. Work with staff and volunteers to enable easy access.
  • Staying updated: keep up to date with the latest trends in multimedia design and video editing to continuously improve our processes and content.
