St John Ambulance works at the heart of communities, supporting and enabling them to access and receive physical and mental health first aid. We do this through developing and providing effective community response and outreach services (e.g. Ambulance response) and using our longstanding expertise to empower people with vital clinical skills and the confidence to use them (e.g. our Volunteers and Community Advocates, and Young Responders programmes).
Job Summary
As a key member of our Medical and Clinical Directorate, reporting to the Medical Director, you will play a central role in strengthening clinical excellence across St John Ambulance. You will lead the professional clinical development of our people across operational functions, ensuring high standards of practice and robust compliance with all clinical policies and procedures.
About You
- Registered Healthcare Professional with relevant further or higher education.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English.
- Experience working in a clinical, patient-focused environment and managing clinical processes or issues.
- Strong understanding of clinical quality assurance and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent organisation, communication and IT skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and engage effectively at all levels.
About the Role
- Serve as the central point of contact for clinical governance workstreams, overseeing clinical input, coordination and development activity.
- Provide clinical review for training content and lead professional support initiatives, including CPD development and support for healthcare professionals at all levels.
- Offer clinical advice to Ambulance, Community Response and Operations teams, including input into internal and external contract negotiations.
- Lead key elements of clinical governance and assurance, establishing systems to monitor standards, supporting policy development and review, and coordinating consultation with internal and external experts.
- Contribute to Infection Prevention and Control activities, support directorate communication and projects, and independently manage clinical tasks to support the Medical and Clinical Directorate’s operations.
