St John Ambulance works at the heart of communities, supporting and enabling them to access and receive physical and mental health first aid. We do this through developing and providing effective community response and outreach services (e.g. Ambulance response) and using our longstanding expertise to empower people with vital clinical skills and the confidence to use them (e.g. our Volunteers and Community Advocates, and Young Responders programmes).
Job Summary
The Clinical Audit Officer at St John Ambulance is a key member of the clinical team, driving the continual improvement of patient care and safety through the coordination, delivery, and reporting of clinical audit activities. This role works closely with clinical governance teams, frontline volunteers, and management to ensure that clinical practices consistently meet best practice standards and regulatory requirements, supporting excellence across the organisation.
About You
- Proven experience in clinical audits, quality assurance, or governance within a healthcare setting.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, with attention to detail and a systematic approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects to deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across professional backgrounds.
- Commitment to upholding St John Ambulance’s values and promoting the continual improvement of patient care.
About the Role
- Coordinate and conduct clinical audits across St John Ambulance services, developing audit plans aligned with organisational priorities, national standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Collect, analyse, and interpret clinical data to identify trends, highlight areas for improvement, and recognise examples of good practice.
- Prepare clear audit reports, present findings to stakeholders, and collaborate with clinical leads and training teams to develop and implement action plans.
- Monitor and support the implementation of audit recommendations, ensuring improvements are embedded and sustained.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of clinical audit methodologies, regulatory guidance, and quality improvement principles, promoting a culture of learning and compliance.
