About Us

St John Ambulance is the nation’s leading first aid charity. Every year, 400,000 people learn how to save a life through our training programmes, including hundreds of thousands of young people. First aid is such a simple skill, but it has an incredible impact. We want everyone to learn it, so that they can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.

To achieve this, we provide a wide range of products and services to the community such as our workplace and community training, first aid support at events and our vital work with the emergency services with our ambulance operations. We generate around £100m per annum which we reinvest in delivering and campaigning for better access to first aid for everyone. By doing this, we can give people access to important skills that they wouldn’t otherwise get the chance to learn.

We are also passionate about campaigning to raise awareness of first aid so that everyone has access to life saving knowledge through our award-winning ad campaigns such as "The Chokeables" which is credited with saving at least 54 babies lives and recently won the Charity Film of the Year Award 2017.

About the Role

The Community Fundraiser will deliver community fundraising initiatives across the geographical area, and provide a high standard of partnership to key individuals, units and fundraising groups to secure and increase levels of income and support. You will support and advise fundraising volunteers and supporters on all legal requirements, fundraising policies, regulations and ensure that activities meet the St John Ambulance brand perspective. You will be responsible for attracting and retaining new volunteers to support our community fundraising initiatives.

About You

To be considered for this role you should ideally have experience within a community fundraising environment along with experience of recruiting, managing and motivating volunteers. You will have achieved financial and non-financial targets in previous roles, planned events, are self motivated and able to work on your own initiative. Building and maintain strong relationships is an integral part of this role, and you will need to be able to demonstrate how you have accomplished before.

We understand that the charities operate in different ways and so we are open to looking at candidates who may not be currently operating in a similar role but may want to switch trajectory, or you may be working in a role which sounds similar and feel that you have transferable skills.
