Hyde Park support
While the hot weather conditions have seen St John Ambulance
treat hundreds of spectators at the Wimbledon Tournament,
dedicated volunteers organisation have also been
on hand at Hyde Park’s spectacular summer concert
series.
Kicking off with Hard Rock Calling, and playing host to Blur and
O2’s Wireless Festival; St John Ambulance members were on site to
share the excitement with the thousands of
spectators who turned out to enjoy the concerts, and more
importantly ensure their safety.
A total of 300 volunteers and 27 ambulances
were available to transport those needing further treatment to the
nearest hospital over the course of the concert series, where they
treated over 900 casualties.
While the warm weather took its toll over many people across the Capital, our volunteers, as always, were out in force to ensure the safety of those who needed it.

St John Ambulance Assistant Commissioner Operations
As well as providing first aid cover amongst the crowds, St John
Ambulance provided over-night support for the crew
responsible for set up and break-down.
Dave Bell, Assistant Commissioner (Operations), said: ‘While the
world’s eyes were on Wimbledon, our volunteers were also busy
ensuring the safety of people throughout London, be it enjoying the
Hyde Park Concerts, taking part in the Pride London parade or
enjoying smaller local events.
‘While the warm weather took its toll over many people across
the Capital, our volunteers, as always, were out in force to ensure
the safety of those who needed it.’
