V Festival first aid
Over a hundred
volunteers helped treat festival goers at this years' V
festival in Chelmsford.
St John Ambulance – Essex provided volunteers for each day of
the weekend long event at six first aid centres for the ‘V’
Festival over the weekend in support of the East of England
Ambulance Service.
Kind hearted first aiders attended to and treated 415
people, with conditions ranging from cuts and bruises to
affects of drink and drug abuse to injuries received in fighting.
Fifteen people were referred to hospital by ambulance.
I am extremely proud of the way the volunteers rose to the demands in difficult circumstances.

County Commander
The volunteers also provided four accident and emergency
ambulances and a new state of the art command and control Unit.
The County Commander, Dr Geoff Kittle, said ‘I am extremely
proud of the way the volunteers rose to the demands in
difficult circumstances. They are now very tired after the
long and arduous two days’.
