Red Bull Air Race
Volunteer first aiders are preparing
to play a major part supporting the Red Bull Air Race in London
this weekend.
St John Ambulance will deploy over 40 first
aiders to ensure that visitors are safe and enjoy this
fantastic spectacle.
While the world's best pilots show their speed, precision and
skill in the air, St John Ambulance volunteers will use their
exceptional training, diligence and experience to
provide first aid to those who need it on the ground.

Over 50,000 spectators are expected to attend
the event, when it takes place along the Thames on the 2 and 3
August.
The volunteers will have the support of four ambulances and
crew, two treatment centres – one on both the North and South Bank
- a doctor, two nurses and a buggy to ensure swift access along the
stretch of the river.
The team will be on hand to deal with anything from dehydration
to sunstroke, and in extreme cases, to prepare casualties for and
transport them to hospital.
'Having already provided support for the London Marathon,
Wimbledon, Lords, Twickenham, Premier League, Champions League and
UEFA Cup events so far this year, St John Ambulance is excited to
be providing first aid support at the Red Bull Air Race for the
first time,' said Ann Cable, Commissioner of St John Ambulance
London (Prince of Wales's) District.
