Help in the heatwave
St John Ambulance volunteers throughout the country are preparing to treat a rise in heat-related illnesses as the Met Office predicts an upcoming heatwave*, despite many of them being very easy to prevent.
Hotting up at Wimbledon
While things are hotting up on the courts, temperatures are expected to soar in the stands. With highs of up to 26 degrees a possibility, St John Ambulance volunteers are on alert for a busy time.
Game, set and patch!
Whether heatstroke or hypothermia are the threat at this year’s Wimbledon, fans at SW19 will be in good hands – thanks to St John Ambulance.
Volunteers recognised by the Queen
Dedicated St John Ambulance volunteers have been recognised for their efforts by The Queen in her birthday honours.
Royal Ascot
Members of St John Ambulance in Berkshire have been working their busiest week of the year at Royal Ascot where they have been taking care of the medical needs of race goers and jockeys.
Support after Leominster blaze
St John Ambulance volunteers have been called in to assist at a rest centre set up for evacuees, following a chemical factory fire in Leominster, West Midlands.
Emergency driver initiative
St John Ambulance is joining forces with The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) to promote and support a programme to improve driving including advanced training for emergency response drivers.
St John supports Carers' Week
St John Ambulance is supporting Carers’ Week this 8-14 June to champion the nation’s growing number of six million carers.
Fire regulations advice
St John Ambulance is advising businesses to check they are adhering to fire regulations, after Shell was reportedly fined a record £300,000 for breaching fire safety laws.
