Dr Margaret Austin, Deputy Chief Medical Officer at St John

wrote the manual, accepted the award from Sir Kenneth Calman, chair
of the BMA Board of Science.
She said: 'The manual is one of the key ways in which we seek to
spread knowledge and expertise in first aid. We work very hard to
make sure that the material is comprehensive but
accessible, so we're thrilled that this work has been
recognised by the BMA.'
