Search for Young First Aiders of the Year
St John Ambulance is seeking
nominations for young people who have used first aid to save a life
or help an injured person for its annual Young First Aider
of the Year awards.
Bravery rewarded
Open to anyone under the age of 18, the
award recognises young people who have acted
quickly, calmly and
effectively in a real
emergency.
The closing date is 18 February and winners
will be invited to a special ceremony in London in
May.
Life saving actions
Last year's 10 medal winners included a
13-year old girl who gave vital first aid to a 20
month old baby who was choking
and a 16-year old boy who cared for a child who had suffered head
injuries in a traffic accident.
Recognition
Sandra Stocker, spokesperson for the St John
Ambulance Awards Committee, said it is essential
young people learn first aid so they can help anyone who has been
injured.
'The Young First Aider of the Year awards is
a wonderful way to celebrate their
bravery and quick-thinking.'
