St John Ambulance supports ITV Daybreak's volunteering
campaign
Simon Cowell, Pixie Lott and
Paul O’Grady are among the stars that have pledged their
support to ITV1 Daybreak’s Donate a Day initiative launching
on Monday 23 May 2011. St John Ambulance is one of
the charities chosen for viewers to donate time to.
The fully interactive initiative will encourage viewers young
and old to pledge their time to help a worthy
cause or those in need – from doing a neighbour’s
shopping, transforming a piece of waste ground, or signing up to be
a St John Ambulance volunteer. And
- as part of the initiative viewers will see
presenters Adrian Chiles, Christine Bleakley, and other
members of the Daybreak team donate their time over the course of
the week for various causes.
Christine Bleakley said: 'Time is precious and in today's busy
world it’s easy to lose track of what's important around us.
Family, friends, the local community and charitable causes could
all benefit from a few hours of our time. Daybreak is launching
Donate a Day to encourage you to give up a little bit of time to
make a big difference.'
St John Ambulance hopes that by supporting the campaign,
the show's viewers will be encouraged to
learn more about how they can be the
difference between a life lost and a life
saved through volunteering with the
charity.
Chris Reed, Head of Volunteering, St John Ambulance said: 'We're
delighted that we're one of the charities chosen by Daybreak for
this campaign. First aid is a vital life
skill and with just a day's training you can be in
the position to save a life.'
Volunteering also helps you to feel part of your community and
looks good on your CV.
