Nominees for Public Spirited Award sought
The Public Spirited Award is one of the
annual honours awarded by the Ambulance Service
Institute. Each year they recognise outstanding
actions or exemplary service by individuals or teams.
This year St John Ambulance is sponsoring the
Public Spirited Award, which is for outstanding actions by
a member of the public before the arrival of a
professional ambulance or medical assistance.
There are a variety of situations where individuals could have
demonstrated outstanding actions in order for them to be put
forward as a nominee. These may include situations such as:
- being of aid during severe winter snow conditions
- assisting the frail and vulnerable within the community
- helping someone survive through an extreme
situation.
The award is open to all members of the general
public (who should not have more training or experience
than a first aid certificate). Special consideration will be given
to younger members of society (school age).
Nominations can be made by any member of the
emergency services, doctors, nurses, patients, relatives or
any member of the public who wishes to express
their appreciation of the actions of another member of the
public.
If you would like to nominate someone please contact Paul
Hudson at St John Ambulance National Headquarters by email or by telephone on
020 7324 4248.
The closing date for nominations is 31 August
2010.
The winners will be notified and invited to attend an official
presentation in London.
