Streets ahead for first aid
St John Ambulance has
featured on the popular ITV soap opera Coronation Street.
First aid at work
Longstanding character Janice Battersby wants
to become a nurse, so her boss has suggested she becomes her
workplace's first aider by enrolling on a St John Ambulance course.
The ninth edition of the First aid
manual was also featured in the episode, screened on Monday
March 2. The award-winning soap has an audience of around ten
million.
There are other benefits of first aid training, it develops confidence, community spirit and could even lead to a new career, as Janice's story shows
Peter Savage
Managing Director, St John Ambulance
Peter Savage,
Managing Director responsible for commercial training at St John
Ambulance, said: 'We're really pleased that our first aid courses
have been recommended in such a popular programme.
First
aid saves lives and
St John Ambulance provides a
wide range of courses to equip everyone with these
essential skills.
'We're a leading provider of workplace first aid
training, but also train thousands of members of the
public through our flexible, affordable community first aid
courses. There are other benefits of first aid training too - it
develops confidence, community spirit and could even lead to a new
career, as Janice's story shows.'
First aid for everyone
Janice will be learning first aid to fulfil her employer's
legal obligation to provide a
trained first aider - but everyone could
benefit from a St John Ambulance course. Families can
learn together with Family first
aid, and even three hours to spare can equip someone with
basic first aid skills. Young people can
learn first aid in school with the Young
first aider scheme.
