Mike Davies
On Sunday 20 March 1994 Mike Davies died – not just once, but
five times.
Mike was running the Fleet half marathon, and was close to the
finish line when he collapsed, had a heart attack and
died. His story would have been very different if it
wasn’t for the three amazing St John Ambulance volunteers who were
on duty that day.
Andrew Harness, David Findlay and Howard Rayner brought
Mike back to life, and they kept on bringing him back to
life. Every time his heart stopped beating the volunteers
persevered, using a defibrillator to get it started again.
By the time I found him my husband had died… All I could think was, ‘No! Not Mike! Not now'.

Mikes wife
Mike and his wife Eileen ‘owe the past 15 years to those
incredible St John Ambulance volunteers’. And they are just two of
the 80,000 we help each year.
There are over 40,000 St John Ambulance volunteers and they give
over five million hours of their time to help the public with no
thought of reward. But we rely on donations from the general public
to help recruit, train and equip these amazing people.
Please, give what you can today and help us save another life.
Thank you.
