Heavy snow and ice in the Royal County has forced St John Ambulance Berkshire to cancel all courses scheduled for Thursday 7 January and Friday 8 January.

The decision to temporarily suspend all training was taken in the interest of the safety of St John Ambulance staff and those customers due to attend courses.

The cancellations will effect and courses due to take place at training centres in Newbury, Theale, Woodley/Reading, Bracknell, Maidenhead and Windsor. Customers due to have a course held on their own premises will also have their training rescheduled.

It is unfortunate that we have had to take the decision to cancel the courses however we must see the safety of our own staff and customers as a priority.

St John Ambulance will be offering all customers affected by the cancellations the opportunity to transfer their course to an alternative date.

Despite further snow being forecast for the weekend it is hoped that courses scheduled for the week beginning Monday 11 January will go ahead, however anyone with concerns should email us for further details. Administration staff have been unable to get to their Woodley offices due to treacherous roads in the area and therefore telephones are currently unmanned.

St John Ambulance spokesperson Becky Trotman explains, ‘It is unfortunate that we have had to take the decision to cancel the courses however we must see the safety of our own staff and customers as a priority.

'If we get more snow over the weekend then it may mean cancelling more courses next week but we hope this will not be the case. We advise people to contact us by email nearer the time to find out more.’
