Sharon Johnson - Commander
As Commander, Sharon is the most senior
volunteer within the county. Outside of St John Ambulance, she
is an accountant and runs her own business.
Camaraderie
Sharon has been a member of St John Ambulance for 35 years after
joining as a Cadet. She
volunteers over 1,000 hours of her time every year. She initially
joined as she had friends who were already members and encouraged
her to go along to camp. Sharon says that she enjoys the
camaraderie in St John and the feeling of being part of a large
family.
The key responsibilities of Sharon's role include:
- Providing strategic leadership to the organisation
- Providing line management to other senior volunteers
- Ensuring that all policies and procedures are understood and
adhered to
- Liaising with National Headquarters and other counties to
ensure that Berkshire is well represented at a National level and
to share best practice.
Sharon has previously used her first aid skills to treat a
severe allergic reaction and to help a neighbour who had a
partially amputated finger.
