Cadet of the year meets Mayor and Royals Star
Two St John Ambulance Cadets from Reading
division attended a reception in The Mayor's Parlour recently,
where they also met Reading and England footballer Nicky
Shorey.
Chloe Parker, 16, Berkshire's Cadet of the year and fellow
Cadet Alice Green, 17, Deputy Cadet of the year, attended the
reception at the Civic Centre where they were congratulated
on their achievements by the Mayor of Reading, who thanked
them for their work in the local community.
Chloe and Alice were chosen for their roles by a panel
of judges and were selected above other cadets from all
across Berkshire.
This is one of the proudest points in our division's 110 year history. We have never produced a County Cadet of the Year before.
Rodney Hayward
Divisional President, Reading District
Divisional President Rodney Hayward remarked: 'This is one
of the proudest points in our division's 110
year history. We have never produced a county Cadet of the year
before, so to have both the lead Cadet and the deputy in our
division is wonderful.'
The girls were given a personal guided tour around the council
chambers and also had the chance to chat to Nicky Shorey, who
signed autographs for them and their families.
