Cadet's achievements honoured by High Sheriff
Reading division held a service to enrol
its new members and present awards to those who have made an
outstanding contribution to the organisation.
High Sherriff of Berkshire
The service took place at St Michael's Church
Hall and was attended by over 40 people, including members
and their families. The guest of honour was The High
Sheriff of Berkshire, Mr H Henderson Esq, who presented
the awards which included cadet of the year.
In this day and age we hear so many negative stories about young people smoking, drinking, and causing trouble, but our Cadets are an example of the good youngsters in society.

Certificates of appreciation were also
presented to people who have assissted the division with
fundraising and administration.
Daniel Williams, one of the adult Cadet leaders spoke at the
service and said: 'In this day and age we hear so many negative
stories about young people smoking, drinking, and causing trouble,
but our cadets are an example of the good
youngsters in society. We are very proud
of their achievements over the last year.'
The division were also presented with an AED machine, the money
for which was donated by Waitrose in Woodley. An automated external
defibrillator can be used when someone has a heart attack to shock
their heart back into a normal rhythm and potentially save their
life. The machine will be taken out to events covered by members of
the division who have been professionally trained
in how to use it.
