Cadets learn fire safety

Cadets attend Dee Road Fire Station

Cadets were well prepared for Bonfire Night after a visit to a local fire station.

Members of Theale Cadet Division visited Dee Road Fire Station to learn more about fire awareness and the role of Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

The visit was organised to support work that the cadets have been doing relating to fire prevention and provided a rare opportunity to look inside a fire engine and understand the many responsibilities of fire men and women which extend way beyond fighting fires.

The Cadets already have the knowledge to treat any accidents that they may come across on bonfire night, but now they have the fire safety awareness to go with it.

Peter Anderson, who accompanied the cadets to the fire station said: 'It was amazing to see how much equipment is transported on a fire engine and also how many different types of emergencies the fire service attends. The Cadets already have the knowledge to treat any accidents that they may come across on bonfire nght, but they now have the fire safety awareness to go with it. We would like to thank the two members of the watch who were kind enough to show us around and answer all of our questions.'
