Donation from the Premiership

Reading FC

St John Ambulance Berkshire has received a £2,000 donation from the Premier League through their creating chances scheme.

Chosen by Reading Football Club

The first aid charity was chosen by Reading FC to donate money to and were also lucky enough to get to visit The Royal's training ground to meet the players and take some photos to support their latest recruitment drive.

We have worked closely with the charity for many years and are greatly appreciative of the excellent work they carry out in the local community, and hope this contribution will assist them.

Becky Trotman, press officer for St John Ambulance says that the donation will provide a real boost to their campaign to recruit more volunteers into the organisations: 'At the moment we don't have enough volunteer members in Berkshire to be able to provide first aid cover at every event and so we have to unfortuantely turn some away.'

'Recruitment costs money so with this £2,000  and the backing of Reading FC we will be able to raise our profile and target specific groups of people to come and join us.'

St John provides at least 25 first aiders for each of Reading's home games, so already have a good relationship with the club.

Andy West, speaking on behalf of the club said: 'We are very happy to support St John Ambulance through the Premier League Creating Chances scheme. We have worked closely with the charity for many years and are greatly appreciative of the excellent work they carry out in the local community, and hope this contribution will assist them.'
