Morrison shoppers dig deep

Fundraisers outside Morrisons

Generous shoppers who visited Morison's over the weekend of 28-30 September donated a total of £1,181 to their local St John Ambulance division.

No other funding

The first aid charity collected for three days at the Basingstoke Road store proved to be the most successful yet. Kim Adrian, County Fundraiser said: 'We have raised more this year than ever before which is great news. Across all three Morrison stores in Berkshire we are 104% up on previous years, so it was definitely worth standing outside in the cold for! We would like to thank everybody who donated and also the volunteers who stood outside the store'.

Contrary to popular belief, St John do not receive any government funding and are not part of the NHS, so donations are a vital source of income to them.

Kim continued: 'Many people don't realise how much we rely on donations, but those who stop and talk to our volunteers are soon happy to help us once they realise that the money is all put to use on a local level.'
