Teens learn first aid
Two groups of local
teenagers put a day of their half term to good use in
Windsor and Newbury by training
as first aiders.
New found skills
The groups were taught how to deal with a range of
medical emergencies including choking, bleeding,
unconsciousness and resuscitation.
They were given the opportunity to practise their new found
skills by dealing with scenarios which were set up by the St John
trainers, such as looking after a casualty who had cut
themselves with a knife and had gone into shock.
It is encouraging to see that young people are keen to learn how to save a life.
Cyndy Price
Training Manager, St John Berkshire
Cyndy Price, Training manger for St John Berkshire feels that
the course was very successful. 'It is encouraging
to see that young people are keen to learn how to save a life. The
course also provided them with something different to do
during half term and they all seemed to enjoy
themselves, which to us is a good indicator that a course
has been a success'.
