Building work well under way at Theale Headquarters
Work on St John Berkshire's new training
venue and divisional headquarters is nearing completion and on
target to be finished by June.
Arson attack
The county has been missing their own
venue in Theale since their last
building was destroyed in an arson attack and has
faced a number of setbacks over the last few years due to the land
in Deadmans Lane being home to a family of
bats.
Although costs for the building itself have been covered, St
John are still raising funds to fit out the centre
with furniture and soft furnishings such as
carpets and curtains.
We still need to kit out the building with vital IT equipment and soft furnishings to make people who are coming to learn first aid with us as comfortable as possible
Kim Adrian
County Fundraiser
County Fundraiser Kim Adrian said: ' All donations are still
very welcome for this project as we would like our volunteers and
those people coming to us to learn first aid to be as
comfortable as possible in the new venue. We also
still need to kit out the building with IT
equipment which is obviously very important for when we
are training our own volunteers and members of the public.'
Once the building is complete it will be used as a
meeting venue for Theale Division who currently
meet in St Luke's hall and will also be available for hire to the community.
