Volunteering in Devon

St John Ambulance FIT team members carrying and injured runner at the Flora London Marathon

With nearly 2000 volunteers in Devon we are a thriving organisation.

Getting involved

Activities for our members are based around maintaining and developing our support to local communities. We need:

  • members of all ages (Badgers 5-10, Cadets 11-18, Youth 16-25, Adult 18+)
  • leaders for both youth and adult sections
  • support members with an interest in administration, finance, outdoor activities, training and assessing.

Recruitment and induction of new members

  • We have a dedicated recruitment team that promote St John Ambulance activities
  • Having a large number of Divisions throughout the county, new members can 'try before they decide' to ensure the division they join is right for them
  • A structured induction programme supports new recruits.

Cost free volunteering

  • All essential training courses are free to members
  • Members are reimbursed for their duty expenses.

Opportunities

We have several opportunities within Devon, we are always looking out for new volunteers, Youth Leaders, Adult Leaders, and support members.

What do you get in return?

  • the satisfaction of supporting people in your local community
  • good quality training to prepare you for your chosen role
  • skills and knowledge that can be used to support/compliment educational courses or in the work place
  • lasting friendship
  • enjoyment.
