About us
St John Ambulance in Chelmsford was
formed in 1927, and is still serving the community and the public
to keep everyone safe.
In 2008 we carried out 12,128 hours of
voluntary work of which 6,940 were first aid hours. 527
casualties were treated, 301 accident and emergency or
urgent patients were transported in the ambulances and the vehicles
covered 11,905 miles. Altogether 250 events were
attended.
Today
Currently, there are a number of
volunteers within Chelmsford.
Members include:
- medical students
- paramedics
- student paramedics
- ambulance care assistants
- paramedic science students
- student nurses
- part time professional ambulance crew for St John
Ambulance
- multi discipline voluntary trainers
- student voluntary first aid trainers
- professional and voluntary first aid assessors
- part time professional first aid trainer
We also have voluntary patient transport attendants
and voluntary emergency transport attendants. Some members have
multiple roles such as both voluntary and professional ambulance
crews.
We would like to expand further, so that we can
meet more requests for our services. So we are always seeking
new volunteers.
