Ambulance appeal
Our mobile first aid unit is now over 20
years old and needs to be replaced. We therefore launched our new
ambulance appeal at the start of 2007 to raise money to buy a new
ambulance.
Background
The mobile first aid unit was purchased with the help of the
Rotary Club and was initially our emergency ambulance. In around
1995, we purchased a replacement ambulance and two of our
volunteers converted the interior of the vehicle so that we had a
work surface and more cupboard space. The first aid unit has been a
valuable resource for treating casualties and sheltering from the
weather.
Our progress so far
At the start of 2007 we needed an additional £10,500 to purchase
a new ambulance. Our fundraising activities so far
include:
- Collections outside Tesco branches in Harlow;
- Three volunteers abseiled off Church Langley water tower;
- Blanket collections at local events.
We have also received donations from a number of local
organisations and companies, including:
- H.G.Evans garage
- GSK
- Harlow rugby club
- Tectronet
- Stansted airport community trust.
At the end of April we had raised over
£3170.
