Volunteers on duty at the London Marathon

Hawkwell and Hockley is the largest unit of St John Ambulance in Essex with around 85 adult, 40 Cadet and 15 Badger members.

Our members can be seen at events from Hockley to Great Wakering and Wallasea to Rochford. We also attend events thoughout Essex and London.

Our membership have a wide range of skills from first aiders through to St John Ambulance Emergency Transport Attendant's as well as NHS Technicians, Paramedics, Nurses, Midwives and Doctors.

Volunteers from all walks of life

We have members with a wide range of backgrounds including:

  • ambulance service staff

  • fire fighters
  • teachers
  • engineers.
