Patient transport service

Working in partnership with our customers and service users, we provide a totally integrated and seamless patient transport service. The following are available to suit your needs:

  • Vehicles capable of carrying service users with a full range of mobility needs
  • Direct control of the vehicle(s) or management through the St John Ambulance control facility
  • Staff who are trained to the national standard and are assessed suitable for role on an ongoing basis
  • Online enquiries

Transport Services provides the ultimate solution in all aspects of admissions, discharges and transfers within the United Kingdom. We also have considerable experience in dealing with repatriations by air.

High dependency service

We provide High dependency ambulances with crews trained to take care of stable patients requiring a responsive level of care.  Ambulances are equipped to an appropriate standard:

  • Automated External Defibrillator
  • SPO2 Sats monitor
  • Blood pressure kit
  • Full immobilisation equipment (including extrication jackets)
  • Piped oxygen
  • Analgesic gas

In an emergency situation, authorised crews can travel to hospital under blue light conditions. Our high dependency service is safe, dependable and used by several NHS Trusts.

Long distance transfers

The needs of a service user undertaking a long distance journey can be very different to those on a local admission. Transport Services recognises this and has specialist equipment and protocols for long distance travel.

  • Care Plan established for the journey
  • Specialist equipment to make the journey more comfortable and reduce the risk of bed sores etc
  • Food and drink can be provided for the service user
  • Ambulance crewing ratio appropriate to the length of journey

Allied services
