Knowledge and skill

Reece Bethel and Ryan Robinson were named winners of the Badger section for their exceptional first aid knowledge and skill.

The first aid competition is held in Hampshire each year and members are given a range of ‘casualties’ to care for and questions to answer.

Now, the pair will represent Hampshire in the regional finals on Saturday 16 May – and if successful will go on to the national competition in the summer.

Wendy McCormick, the Training Commissioner for St John Ambulance Hampshire, said the youngsters truly deserved their first place: ‘Reece and Ryan worked really well together as a team and coped with the scenarios and questions we set.

‘They are a tribute to St John Ambulance and proof that young children really can do first aid.’

Other Basingstoke winners were Olivia Franklin and Amy Davies.
