First aid success

First aid

Two teams of first aiders from across the Portsmouth area will be going on to regional finals after winning the Hampshire finals.

Winning teams

The volunteers – all members of St John Ambulance – won first place in the finals held at St Vincents College, Gosport.

The first aiders are given a range of scenarios and casualties to treat and are marked on the way they assess and care for the patients.

  • Cadets’ Emergency Care – Jordan Knight, Sophie Tomkins Georgina Cullen (from Mayville High School)

Wendy McCormick, the Training Commissioner for St John Ambulance Hampshire, said they all truly deserved their first place; ‘The teams all worked really well together and coped with the scenarios and questions we set.

‘They are a tribute to St John Ambulance and proof that children and non-medical people can learn first aid and put it to good use!’
