Patient transport services

St John Ambulance has been meeting the
nation’s first aid needs for over 100 years, caring for
patients and transporting them to hospital.
Nationally, we have one of the largest
ambulance fleets, and we are the major component of the
ambulance reserve - supporting the statutory
services in times of crisis and peak demand.
In Hampshire, as a commercial patient transport provider we have
key contracts with the NHS; we also provide
patient transport for many other organisations, as well as private
individuals.
We are registered with the Care Quality
Commission as an ambulance service and strive to
exceed the minimum requirements expected of us at all times.
We can provide transport to and from
hospitals, clinics and care homes, including outpatient
appointments. We provide ambulance transport to meet a
variety of patient requirements. We can
tailor our resources to meet social care and low dependency needs,
as well as specialist clinical transport for high dependency
needs.
Our ambulances are fully
equipped to transfer seated patients, wheelchair dependent
patients and also those who have stretcher requirements. All
vehicles have automated external defibrillators, medical gases and
are compliant with current protocols and CEN European
Standards.
A bariatric service is also
available with the ability to transport patients who have
differing needs utilising specialist equipment.
St John Ambulance staff are trained
and continually assessed to national standards. Our
experienced staff will act with professionalism and sensitivity at
all times.
The Patient Transport Service office operates
office hours Monday to Friday for all enquiries. Local and
long distance journeys are catered for. Requests for evening
and weekend journeys can often be taken, subject to availability
and advanced notice.
