Healthcare professional

HFD_BishStort_hcp

St John Ambulance has a team of healthcare professionals (HCPs) who support, train, guide and assist our volunteer first aiders and ambulance crews at a variety of events. However, here in Bishop's Stortford we're actively looking for more HCPs to come and join St John Ambulance.

We rely on the support of doctors, paramedics, nurses and emergency medical technicians at our many public events each year, where they are often able to provide advanced treatment alongside standard first aid and care.

Many HCPs think that St John Ambulance will be just like their day job, whereas in reality not all healthcare professionals have the option to mentor and support others in their workplace setting, nor do they always get the opportunity to use their skills in their local community.

Local

We're fortunate enough to have a good skill mix here in Bishop's Stortford and our volunteer first aiders enjoy the skills that our HCP's are able to teach them.  We work well together and would welcome any new HCP's to join us.

Shiftwork

With all healthcare professionals' jobs comes shift work and a mixture of evening and weekend working, and we fully appreciate that you won't always be able to do certain voluntary roles or events due to work or other commitments.

Finding out more

We welcome new volunteers to attend our weekly meetings to find out more about what St John Ambulance has to offer.

To find out more, email us, call us on 07890 726299 or complete the online volunteering form and one of our recruitment co-ordinators will make contact with you.

Transferring my skills from a hospital to the middle of a field can sometimes present an exciting challenge!
