Youth Leader

St John Ambulance is a major youth organisation and relies on youth leaders to help our young members

As a major youth organisation, St John Ambulance youth leaders play a vital part in the personal development of our youth members.

From our youngest Badger member right through to Cadets and university LINKS, our leaders provide a wealth of experience and knowledge to budding youngsters of the future.

You'll help run one of our youth groups tailored to either our Badger members (aged five-10) or our Cadet groups (aged 10-18) and be responsible for broadening the horizons of each youth member, whilst helping them to realise their potential.

Innovative

Our youth programmes are structured and involve a wealth of other opportunities alongside first aid. Our Cadet members undertake the Grand Prior Award which sees them take up to 24 short courses over their time with St John Ambulance to receive this award signed by HRH the Duke of Gloucester.

Our Badger members are equally as important and their development is aided by the Super Badger Award scheme which sees them complete 12 out of 15 sections, including areas such as adventure, caring, creative, eco, healthy, safety and wild. Once completed, they're awarded a Super Badger certificate, badge and gift.

Locally

Here in Bishop's Stortford we already have active Cadet and Badger groups who meet weekly.  However, we're looking to recruit more Youth Leaders to share the workload out and give our youth members more support at their weekly meetings.

You don't need any training or qualifications as we'll train you, but you should be prepared to undergo an enhanced criminal records bureau check with St John Ambulance to help protect our youth members.

Finding out more

We welcome new volunteers to attend our weekly meetings to find out more about what St John Ambulance has to offer.

To find out more, email us, call us on 07890 726299 or complete the online volunteering form and one of our recruitment co-ordinators will make contact with you.

St John Ambulance provides such a great opportunity for young people to learn new skills which may one day see them save a life. The satisfaction for me as a Badger Leader is seeing the smile on their faces week after week.
