Carer Support Programme

carers course

Are you caring for someone in their own home? Do you sometimes struggle to cope? Do you sometimes feel under pressure?

St John Ambulance, Jersey is offering a Carer Support Programme for people who care for relatives or friends free of charge. Our programme can help you to stay well and prevent injury and help you to provide better care for your loved one.

What does it involve?

The programme is suitable for anyone caring for someone whether it be 24 hours a day or popping in on someone.

Most carers have very little experience before taking on such a great responsibility and reaserch has shown that carers' health can suffer from:

  • back injuries
  • stress related illness
  • isolation and exhaustion.

You will receive information and training based around accidents that are likely to occur at home and what action to take in the event of a trip or fall. You wil also get the opportunity to meet other carers and share problems and ideas whilst enjoying a free lunch.
