Best Kent County Show yet
St John Ambulance Kent recently attended
one of the best Kent County Show's ever. Medical assistance was
provided to 126 visitors, top first aid
tips to members of the public were offered and one of the
four state-of-the-art ambulances recently deployed across the
county was showcased.
Martin Phippen, Commissioner of St John Ambulance Kent said:
'With the purchase of the four new ambulances,
we're even better equipped to react
quickly and effectively to situations which arise at the
thousands of events they cover across Kent. The vehicles are also
immediately available to support the statutory
ambulance service when major incidents and emergencies arise.'
The new vehicles form part of a replacement strategy to ensure
St John Ambulance has the right equipment in the right
place at the right time. At a cost of £65,000 they demand
massive fundraising by the charity.
At the show, two past chairmen The Most Honourable 6th Marquess
of Abergavenny and The Lord Astor of Hever, together with Guy
Innes, our new chairman, inspected one of the new vehicles. They
commented on the remarkable improvements of these high-tech
vehicles in comparison with their predecessors.
Said Guy Innes: 'I am honoured to take on the challenge of
helping St John Ambulance. Knowing that the work we
do is sometimes the difference between life and
death is a huge spur to work hard to fund modern
up-to-date equipment like these new ambulances so that we make a
real difference where it is needed.'
