St John Ambulance supports Ambulance service in
snow
What a week it was. With the whole of the
county engulfed in snow last week, St John Ambulance came to
assistance of South East Coast Ambulance
Service (SECAmb) with our five 4x4
ambulances in operation from Canterbury to Dartford. Long days were
put in by all our ambulance crews, with many finishing duty well
into the night.
Commissioner, Martin Phippen, said:
'The last couple of days the road conditions have really been
too bad to risk our normal ambulances and so it's times like this
when the spirit of St John Ambulance comes
into its own. I would like to say a huge thank you to each
and every member that assisted in what were often
treacherous conditions. I know SECAmb is very
appreciative of the assistance we are able to provide, and know
that if we had double the fleet of four wheel drive vehicles we
could put them to good use.
'Supporting SECAmb in such adverse weather conditions is a key
role for St John Ambulance. Our volunteers and ambulance crews will
be on hand to help whenever and wherever
they can.'
