Canterbury Volunteer invested as Knight of Justice
Canterbury GP, Dr David Barton, has been
recognised for his contribution
to St John Ambulance by being invested as a
Knight of Justice in the Most Venerable Order of
the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem. The honour
was bestowed at a special ceremony on Thursday 18
November in the Order's historic 12th century
Priory Church in London's Clerkenwell.
Dr Barton was presented with the Order's
insignia by His Royal Highness the Duke of
Gloucester as Grand Prior of the Order of St
John.
'It’s a real honour to be invested as Knight of
Justice. My career with St John Ambulance started as
divisional surgeon, based in Herne Bay, and for many years I was
county medical officer for Kent. I think one of the
highlights of my St John Ambulance career has to be when
in 2007 I was responsible for organising a
visitation to Canterbury for members of the Order of St
John from all over the UK,' Dr Barton said.
