Badgers & Cadets demonstrate first aid skills & encourage youngsters to join

It was all systems go on Sunday 24 October for Cadets and Badgers from St John Ambulance's Maidstone division as they spent the day on the town's community bus, Urban Blue, showing interested youngsters how much fun it is to be involved with the charity and displaying their first aid skills.

Demonstrating first aid skills to high street shoppers, the Cadets and Badgers showed how to correctly bandage and dress wounds, resuscitation techniques on a 'Resusci Annie' and the importance of the recovery position.

'The day was a great opportunity for our youngsters to show their first aid knowledge and skills to the general public and we were very proud of all of them. Six local families expressed an interest in their children joining and hopefully we will be able to welcome them to our Badger sett soon,’ said Paul Cole, Divisional Officer at Maidstone.
