Transporting patients
St John Ambulance specialises in caring
for patients including transporting them where they need to go.
Our ambulance service is registered with the Care Quality
Commission and our ambulances and crews meet the exacting demands
of the Care Act.
We tailor our friendly personal service to meet the needs of our
clients whether it’s high dependency or basic transport. Local,
long distance, day, evening and weekend journeys can all be catered
for and include:
- admissions and discharges to and from hospitals, clinics and
nursing homes
- out patient visits to medical facilities
- transportation to and from airports/ports
- specialist transport services for bedridden patients and those
in wheelchairs
- a planned bariatric service for patients whose weight
makes specialist equipment a transport requirement.
We have the largest fully equipped ambulance fleet in the
country. Every day our fleet regularly attend events in cities,
towns and villages around the nation. The fleet is part of the
country’s Ambulance Reserve which is called out when major
incidents and emergencies happen. We also regularly support the
statutory ambulance service in times of crisis and peak demand
(often caused by severe weather).
All vehicles are fitted with automated external defibrillators
and medical gases: they are compliant with current protocols and
CEN European Standards. Our people are professionally trained and
regularly assessed to national standards which are recognised by
the emergency services. We take enormous pride in paying great
attention to our clients' needs, always acting with professionalism
and sensitivity. Our experience as a charity is reflected in our
commercial service.
We have been ISO 9001 registered for over 9 years
which tells you that we care about every aspect of quality.
