Community First Aid Courses in Lancashire
Would you know what to do in an
emergency? Could you save a loved one's life? St John Ambulance
Lancashire is providing you with the
opportunity to learn life saving skills and
be the difference between a life saved and a life
lost.
Course dates and venue
Essential First Aid courses are being held throughout
March, 2011, at St John Ambulance Lancashire
County HQ in Preston. The courses will run every
Thursday 7pm-9pm and every Sunday
11am-2pm.
Course content
The courses will cover the following situations:
You never know when you may need first aid. It could be in the home, at work or just out and about. The skills you can learn on this course provide you with the skills, confidence and ability to save a life.

- Severe Bleeding
- Chest Pains
- Assessing a casualty
- Choking (adult)
- Unconscious Casualty
- Resusitation (adult)
- Communication and Casualty Care
Providing a basic right
Additionally, Sunday courses will include infant and
child care. Michelle Sumner, County Standards Verifier
said, 'You never know when you may need first aid. It could be in
the home, at work or just out and about. The skills you can
learn on this course provide you with the skills, confidence
and ability to save a life.'
If every street across the country had just one first aider a
big difference could be made.
'We're working to make sure that access to first aid training is
a basic right,' said Sumner.
Costs
On completition of the course, each person will receive a
certificate to demonstrate their new skills. The cost is £25.00 per
person with subsequent places costing £10 for group bookings.
