Lytham St Annes Celebrate Win

LNC_Lytham Club Day

Lytham St Annes Unit are in high spirits after being awarded 1st place and winning the Cheetham Cup for their float in the annual Lytham Club Day Carnival on Saturday 26th June.

The Badger, Cadet and Adult Unit all joined forces to enter the competition. Several weeks of hard work were put into the planning and production of the float, including a few late nights in the week leading up to the carnival.

The float documented the history of St John Ambulance over the last 100 hundred years, illustrating how the image of the organisation has evolved over time, with Cadets dressing up in the different uniforms from times gone by.

Winning first place was a great surprise; everyone put a lot of time and effort into building the float and I am really proud of the whole unit.

Members took turns during the two and a half mile procession to complete CPR demonstrations on the float illustrating the importance of learning first aid and knowing how to deal with an emergency situation involving an injured casualty.

Unit leader Julie Whitaker commented: 'The carnival was a great day, the weather was amazing and everyone really enjoyed themselves. Winning first place was a great surprise, everyone put a lot of time and effort into building the float and I am really proud of the whole unit.'
