LINKS at The University of Central Lancashire
St John Ambulance has a strong
presence at Universities across England for students
wanting to develop their university experience further.
Known as 'LINKS' Units, St John Ambulance Lancashire has a unit
affiliated with the Students' Union at The University of
Central Lancashire.
Why join LINKS?
Going to university is an exciting time, and joining LINKS will
provide an opportunity to have fun, meet new friends,
socialise, and more importantly provide you with the skills to save
a life. Every year, up to 150,000 people die in situations
where first aid may have given them a chance to live. Would you
know what to do?
To secure that dream job, many employers are now looking beyond
a good education and are looking for well rounded individuals who
have more to offer an organisation. Being part of LINKS can
really boost your CV, it is entirely
student focused and student run providing you with the opportunity
to make the decisions and take a management role
in leading the group. There are several opportunities
available including Chairperson, Secretary
and Treasurer.
Socialising
LINKS regularly organise social events to
meet all tastes, last year they included, ice skating, bowling,
nights out, meals and cinema trips. This provides a great
opportunity to meet new people both within LINKS and outside it. As
most students live away from home at university, LINKS aims to
offer a varied social life with members soon
feeling part of the family.
Training
LINKS members meet on a regular basis during
term time at University to learn new skills and train
towards becoming a qualified first aider. The more
experienced members have the opporunity to train and teach other
members and help develop the LINKS Unit further while
also using their skills at community events
administering first aid to those who
need it.
