Leicestershire and Rutland celebrates first 'Badger of the
Year'
Thomas (pictured) from Rothley has been
selected as the county’s first ‘Badger of the
Year’. Thomas will be representing St John Ambulance
Leicestershire and Rutland at events across the county over the
coming year.
Difficult decision
‘You were all very good, and it was a
difficult decision’ said County Badger President,
Pat Plowman. However, in the end, the judges felt that Thomas was
the best overall candidate, displaying good communication skills,
and excellent leadership abilities.

Thomas, aged nine
has been a volunteer with St John Ambulance for 4 years. He spent
the day compteting against fellow Badgers from across the county in
a range of sessions designed to test his
leadership and
communication
skills. Showing that he was deserving of the title
'Badger of the Year'. Thomas was presented with a lanyard
and ceramic badger to commemorate the
outstanding
achievement.
Thomas will now assist the County Commissioner
(Youth), and County Badger President, representing Leicestershire
and Rutland Badgers at events across the county
over the coming year.
