Good luck to 'A' Level students

University student (LINKS) volunteers

With 'A' Level results day tomorrow, St John Ambulance Leicestershire and Rutland is wishing good luck to everyone due to receive their results, hoping to see a host of new students in the county come September.

But whether you get the grades for university or choose to take a gap year, there are plenty of opportunities available with St John Ambulance, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Gap year

If you're taking a gap year have you considered St John Ambulance?

We're always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us run our youth units helping our young people develop. A fantastic way to give something back to your community, do youth work, have a great time, and something to make your CV shine.

LINKS groups provide the perfect mix of first aid, volunteering, and social activities.

Alternatively, how about helping with our hospital library service or volunteer as a first aider. We have a wealth of opportunities and it's so easy to join in so why not give it a go? Do something different with your free time; you never know what possibilities it could open up!

University students

'For those who get the grades to go to university, LINKS groups provide the perfect mix of first aid, volunteering, and social activities' said Edwina Timms, Principal youth officer for St John Ambulance, Leicestershire and Rutland. 'In Leicestershire we have groups based at all three universities, and they're all hoping for a busy time training new volunteers how to save a life once the new academic year starts.'

Through LINKS, university students have the opportunity not only to learn first aid, but also the chance to gain management experience. Joining the committee of the society means that students can help to run the group, and put something a bit different on their CV. How many people come out of university with:

  • a degree
  • first aid knowledge that could help save a life
  • management experience, running a student society
  • the chance to attend 1000's of events across the country, every year… for free!?
