Lutterworth recruitment day

Volunteers and members of the public outside Lutterworth Town Hall

Enthusiastic volunteers from St John Ambulance in Lutterworth spent the day promoting their work in the community at Lutterworth Town Hall recently in a bid to attract more people to join them.

Fun day

The day was great fun for all and included an ambulance for members of the public to view along with demonstrations throughout the day showing how our equipment is used. It was also a great opportunity for some of our volunteers to practise their skills as they work towards becoming ambulance attendants with the organisation.

Inside Lutterworth Town Hall there were many leaflets available explaining the different roles available to potential volunteers and not just uniformed first aid.

Members from the unit and county headquarters were also on hand to answer any questions and a DVD of their services played throughout the day.

A coffee morning was also held to raise money which will go directly to the Lutterworth unit to help pay for first aid supplies, training or towards much needed equipment. An automatic external defibrillator costs in the region of £2,000 and a uniform for one member costs around £100.

The county of St John Ambulance Leicestershire and Rutland are currently fundraising for two new ambulances, these will cost £58,000 each.
