Thirst aid
Leicestershire and Rutland St John
Ambulance are delighted with the level of support given by the
Highcross and Gloria Jean's Coffees customers, at the charity's
flagship fundraising event in November The BIG Tea Cosy, which took
place on Saturday 21 November.
St John Ambulance members both young and old took to the
Highcross to collect much needed funds that will enable the charity
to continue their life saving work in the local community.
Jayesha Mistry, PR and Fundraising Manager for St John Ambulance
Leicestershire and Rutland, said: 'We are overwhelmed by the level
of support given to us by the shoppers in Leicestershire, we had a
thoroughly enjoyable day and most importantly raised vital funds in
support of St John Ambulance. Every penny that was donated will be
spent on life saving equipment and training in the county, in the
hope of saving many more lives in our community.'
St John Ambulances mascot 'Bertie Badger' was a huge hit with
children and adults alike and his presence really got everyone
involved with tour activities during the day.
Staff at the Highcross Shopping Centre, and Gloria Jean's
Coffees were incredibly supportive and even took part in some of
our activities during the day. Nick Jackson a partner at Gloria
Jean's Coffees, said: 'it was an absolute delight to work with such
dedicated volunteers, our staff and customers have commented on how
much they enjoyed supporting St John Ambulance, and we look forward
to supporting them again in the future.'
We have recieved an exceptional response from the public who
weren't able to attend the event with donations being received at
St John Ambulance Leicestershire and Rutland County HQ. Events have
been held across the county by supporters to raise much needed
funds, including members of our Coalville, Hinckley and Church
Gresley units.
'St John Ambulance relies on donations so that we can provide
care to those that need it the most. Our vision is that everyone
who needs it should receive first aid from those around them. No
one should suffer for the lack of trained first aiders. Without our
volunteers presence events such as the Leicester Marathon, Diwali,
and Leicester Caribbean Carnival could not take place.' Miss Mistry
added.
