Volunteers set for world class week

Our field hospital at last years MotoGP

With Donington Park hosting the British leg of the Moto GP, and the city of Leicester hosting the 2009 Special Olympics, St John Ambulance volunteers across the county are gearing up for what promises to be a memorable few days.

St John Ambulance have had a presence at motorsport events at Donington Park for many years, and this years British Moto GP  running from 24 - 26 July will be no different. The charity has been asked to provide ambulance and first aid cover for not only the circuit, but also the paddocks, crowd viewing areas and campsites. This isn't just limited to when the racing is occurring however, but is required 24/7 from the start of the build-up of the event through to the take down of the event - almost a week later.

Whilst all this is happening, volunteers will also be found accross the county at the 2009 Special Olympics running from 25 - 31 July, and covering events as diverse as swimming, football, athletics, power lifting, and kayaking.

As well as our first aid and ambulance volunteers St John Ambulance will also be providing healthcare professional support and be present in the event control rooms for these two major events. Our volunteers will be working with staff from other agencies to ensure the smooth running of the events so that participants and fans alike have an enjoyable time.

If you would like to volunteer with us or would like to discuss your requirements with us for your event then why not contact us.
