Leaders of tomorrow elected
There has been fierce campaigning in
Leicestershire and Rutland, as the St John Ambulance University
groups (LINKS) recently elected their new committee's.
Campaigning
Forget the general election, this week has seen campaigning
across the county, as student volunteers in St John Ambulance put
forward their case to serve on their LINKS committee
for the coming academic year.
Leicestershire and Rutland is privileged in that each of the
three universities in the county has it's own LINKS unit.
Steve Corry, Assistant County Staff Officer - LINKS said: 'It's
fantastic that we have so many keen and willing
volunteers. Not only are many completing challenging
degrees, but they find the time to successfully run units,
sometimes with over 100 volunteers'.
Challenge
This promises to be a fantastic year for these student volunteers. Something that will stay with them for a lifetime.
Steve Corry
County Staff Officer
There's no doubt that
running a St John Ambulance LINKS unit is challenging,
especially when completing a degree at the same time. But the
rewards can be immense. By being elected to their
LINKS committee, these young people will be showing that they have
the skills, abilities, and aptitude necessary to help run a
successful unit.
Steve continued: 'As well as providing something amazing to put
on their CV, this also promises to provide a fantastic
experience for these volunteers - something that will stay
with them for a lifetime.'
