University students recruit new volunteers

Students signing up to save a life

The past couple of weeks have been a busy time for student volunteers across Leicestershire and Rutland, as they work hard to recruit new volunteers at their Students Union Fresher's fair's.

New experiences

Going to university is all about new experiences, and this doesn't stop with starting a new degree.

Many students choose to join university societies, including volunteering with St John Ambulance, the UK's leading first aid charity - meaning their university life can not only give them new skills for life, but also the skills to save a life.

The difference

Students in LINKS units (the student wing of St John Ambulance) are taught the skills necessary to be the difference between life and death, as they are taught how to save a life. Then, like other adult volunteers, LINKS volunteers can go on to provide their services at events across the county.

Alternatively, some students choose to complement their university degree with youth work in St John Ambulance - the UK's third largest youth organisation. Teaching our young people from the age of five to be the difference between life and death.

More information

LINKS units can be found at all three of the counties universites - Loughborough, De Montfort, and the University of Leicester. Why not find us on the students union notice boards?
