Simply the best

Mrs Timms at the ball

In April St John Ambulance held it's annual youth ball, a celebration of the charities youth work, and of it’s young people.

St John Ambulance is open to anyone from the age of five, and the annual event serves to celebrate the work of the young people in badger setts and cadet units. As well as the work put in by our student volunteers (LINKS groups), and of course the dedication shown by our youth leaders.

The event was organised by the county youth participation team, a group of young people elected by their peer group to represent the views of young people, giving them an opportunity to speak out on what matters to them, and to help make a real difference in their community.

Mrs Timms was a shining example of a young persons' champion

The event also saw an impromptu rendition of 'Simply the best', as it was announced that Mrs Edwina Timms would be stepping down as the county's principal youth officer, a voluntary role as the most senior youth officer, responsible for all the counties young volunteers, and their leaders. Mrs Timms held the post for many years and worked tirelessly to champion the work of our organisations young people.

‘I’ve got an impossible act to follow’, said Jason Loughran, Acting Principal Youth Officer, ‘Mrs Timms worked so hard, and would never hear a wrong word said about our young people. She really was a shining example of a young persons’ champion’.
